Some medical conditions are serious enough to require us to admit you to the hospital to perform the necessary oral surgery. In preparation for this you will be required to have a physical examination within seven days of the proposed surgery. This examination should be performed by your regular physician. If your physician is not on staff at Methodist Hospital, we still want his current assessment of your medical health, but we will arrange for a general practitioner or appropriate specialist to manage your care while you are hospitalized. The hospital will contact you when your bed and room are ready. You should arrive at the hospital at the time they recommend.
If you have any questions, contact the Admissions office at Northlake 219.886.4610 or Southlake 219.738.5518.
Our Hospital Coordinators will help guide you through this process. They can be reached by calling 219.757.5710.
Our evaluation process may reveal certain medical conditions that warrant you have your surgery performed under general anesthesia in the hospital operating room. If this is the case, we will schedule your procedure at Methodist Hospital in Merrillville or Gary, or at the Merrillville Surgery Center located next to Southlake Methodist Hospital.
In preparation for this you will be required to have:
•A physical examination by your regular physician within seven days of the proposed surgery.
•Routine pre-admission tests performed where your surgery is scheduled.
If you require other tests, you will be provided with a written order to take to the lab. Patients with a history of heart conditions (heart attacks, by-pass surgery, etc.) or seizure disorder will need clearance from their cardiologist or neurologist before surgery is performed.
Patients having out-patient surgery may stay up to 23 hours after surgery and still be considered as out-patients.
Our Hospital Coordinators will help guide you through this process.
