Our evaluation process may reveal certain medical conditions that warrant you have your surgery performed under general anesthesia in the hospital operating room.  If this is the case, we will schedule your procedure at Methodist Hospital in Merrillville or Gary, or at the Merrillville Surgery Center located next to Southlake Methodist Hospital.  In preparation for this you will be required to have:

•A physical examination by your regular physician within seven days of the proposed surgery.

•Routine pre-admission tests performed where your surgery is scheduled.

If you require other tests, you will be provided with a written order to take to the lab.  Patients with a history of heart conditions (heart attacks, by-pass surgery, etc.) or seizure disorder will need clearance from their cardiologist or neurologist before surgery is performed.

Patients having out-patient surgery may stay up to 23 hours

after surgery and still be considered as out-patients.
